LIE: Fat loss can be rapid.

TRUTH: Fat takes time to burn. Weight loss can be rapid, but it will be mostly body fluids and protein tissue that are lost quickly, NOT FAT, and your body will do everything it can to regain the lost weight as soon as it can. This is why fad diets don’t work.

LIE: With the right diet, I won’t need to exercise.

TRUTH: Your body needs to move. You will never achieve good health unless you include a reasonable amount of physical activity in your daily routine. Nutrition and exercise and two sides of the same coin – you need both.

LIE: Thin people are healthier than overweight people.

TRUTH: Lifestyle will determine health more than just weight. An overweight but physically active person who makes positive lifestyle choices can be in better health and have lower risk for disease than a thin, sedentary person who makes poor lifestyle choices. Good health is more than just outer appearance.

LIE: Changing my lifestyle will be really hard.

TRUTH: Change does take commitment, but it doesn’t have to be hard. Once you are committed, you need to gain clarity on your personal values and goals, then manage your expectations as to what is a realistic rate of progress.

LIE: Eating healthy food is too time consuming, too expensive, and boring.

TRUTH: It’s a matter of learning how. Healthy food is actually simple, affordable, and can be as tasty and exciting as you want it to be.
